Show the entire opening
A close-up of the latch alone can hide the cause. Send a full view of the gate closed, each post, hinges and the point that drags. Note the gate material and approximate width. Describe whether the problem appeared suddenly or worsened over time. Do not lift or pull an unstable gate to demonstrate the problem; leave load-bearing checks to the person inspecting it.
Match the repair to the source of movement
A loose attachment, unsuitable hinge, distorted gate or moving post calls for different work. New latch hardware alone may not address the original alignment problem. Gate-hardware manufacturers specify compatible gate materials and weight limits; choose a product for the actual installation. Tell VPS if the gate controls pool access or another safety boundary so that the scope receives the appropriate review.
Request separate repair options
Ask what can be retained and what needs replacement: hardware, gate framing, posts or finish. Material matching, access, disposal and any post work affect the comparison. Photograph the adjoining fence so replacement details can be discussed. The planning tool can carry this information as an unpriced repair; it should not assign an unrelated interior-door rate.
