Walk the home by room
Start a room-by-room list with the problem, desired result and one useful photo for each item. Note doors that do not work properly, damaged trim, wall repairs and storage needed before unpacking. Treat active leaks, unsafe electrical conditions and structural concerns as separate professional assessments, not items to hide under a cosmetic repair list.
Order work around access and drying
Ask which tasks create dust, require clear walls or need a return visit between preparation and finish. Coordinate those with floor protection, painting and furniture delivery. Do not assume all work can be completed on moving day. A requested date is a planning preference until VPS confirms the schedule and any dependencies.
Plan the furniture setup too
Record where large storage units and TVs will go before wall work is finalized. The CPSC recommends anchoring furniture and TVs to prevent tip-overs; follow the product instructions and suitable anchoring guidance. Include assembly, anchoring and any access limits in your list. Use the tool to distinguish must-do items from later work in the notes, then ask for an itemized scope.
