Wi-Fi Water Leak + Freeze Detector

Direct-placement leak alerts

For an accessible indoor low point where a small battery-powered detector can sit directly and send leak or low-temperature alerts.

Consider before choosing

  • It does not physically shut off the water supply or monitor every concealed leak.
  • Phone notifications depend on a stable Wi-Fi connection; the detector must be placed where water can reach it.
  • Direct placement differs from Moen’s included remote sensing disc; allow room to reach and maintain the detector.

Key manufacturer facts

  • Detects water and temperatures approaching freezing, with a local alarm and Kidde app notifications. Manufacturer source
  • Uses two included AA batteries and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi; no separate hub is required. Manufacturer source
  • Designed for indoor placement on a clean, dry, level non-metallic surface at a likely water-collection point. Manufacturer source

Leave room for the detector itself

Unlike a remote sensing disc, this model sits directly at the point you want to watch. Kidde specifies an indoor, clean, dry, level surface and cautions against metallic surfaces. Choose an accessible low point where water could reach the detector, while following the instructions about obstruction and rising water.

Check power and connectivity together

Two AA batteries are included. Remote app notifications use 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, and no additional hub is required. A convenient physical location still needs a suitable connection; phone notifications depend on the home network and do not replace checking the detector and maintaining its batteries.

Understand the alert without assuming a shutoff

The model reports water and low-temperature conditions, with rapid temperature-change notification described in its data sheet. It does not physically close a valve. Compare it with Moen when the placement method matters: Kidde needs room for the body, while Moen’s included remote disc can extend the sensing point.
